http://www.southernliving.com/food/holidays-occasions/make-ahead-magic-party-timeline-00400000032990/page2.html

It seems like most businesses these days are tightening their belts on expenses, but you won’t have this worry with our holiday office party ideas from Kim King Smith Events.  We’ve dug deep into Santa’s pockets to make you look like an angel instead of Scrooge.  Try these innovative ideas to entertain your employees or fellow workers.  Don’t forget to call us for that “extra help” or another idea!.

Holiday Decorations for the Office Gathering

Use lots of candles and color.  Think out of the box!  Use gift wrapped boxes, ornaments, ribbon, pine sprigs, colorful candies and holiday themed napkins to give your table extra “wow” without extra expense.  Remember to vary heights for added interest.  Use what you have in creative ways.  Take that cake platter and display ornaments or candy on it instead of cake.  Use your cheese dome and fill it with bright garland beads.  Add sprigs of greenery to each person’s place setting. Uncracked nuts are also a great filler for bowls and candle globes. Fill baskets with fruit and nuts.

Feast or Famine; We make it a Royal Affair!

Local restaurants and markets offer inexpensive catering options for appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Does your office have a favorite hangout or delivery option for lunch? Ask them if they offer catering. Instead of having an open bar, give guests drink tickets or offer a cash bar.  Offer a “happy hour” with bowls of snacks and sweets along with a soda bar with regular and unusual soda drinks.  Various root beers and bottled drinks will add fun along with possibly some regional colas.

Finger foods: cold cut platters, fruit/veggie trays, cheese trays and chips can always be picked up in a hurry along with pizza and subs.
Potluck – employees sign-up to bring in different dishes (businessknowhow.com) What about a theme such as Italian?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                A soup buffet will warm them up! Offer three to four soups, toppings and voila!  Add corn muffins, , cheese and cracker plates and a scrumptious  sweet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            A A baked potato bar could be a fast and fun way for a creative lunch. Everyone loves it and it is very econoomical!  This can be a great way for employees to interact while topping potatoes with common and uncommon toppings.  Add a salad and sweets .                                                                                                                                                                                                         Consider having food stations for lots of mingling and “food construction”. Food stations can offer a quick and easy way to get food, enjoy and return to work.                                                                                                                                                                                      An office cookie exchange could be fun with employees making 3 dozen of their favorite cookies and you supplying empty containers for them to take them home in.  Everyone could submit recipes a couple of weeks earlier and they could be compiled for a company cookie recipe book.  Add a hot chocolate bar with whipped cream, peppermint or cinnamon sticks and marshmallows for added fun.
Offer a holiday brunch with pastries, fruit and coffee/juice bar.  Give gift cards to local coffee houses as favors.

 Entertainment aka Office Got Talent????

Consider local entertainment such as magician, holiday characters, school choir, instrumentalist or story teller.  Mix it up with holiday trivia contest or scavenger hunt trivia with guests.                                                                                                                                                                          Help others while you are having fun!  Let guests experience a gift wrap bar.  Let guests wrap gifts for the needy with wrapping paper, ribbons and cards your business provides.                                                                                                                                                                     What about a Christmas card “post office”? Provide assorted holiday cards that employees may write messages on and send them to local nursing homes, hospitals, children’s homes or troops.

Your House or My Office?

Save money on renting a room by having your party at the office or in the warehouse.  This could be very creative.  Consider a favorite local restaurant
Invite your employees and their spouses into your home (businessknowhow.com)
Rent a restaurant when it is closed and preorder a meal for everyone or give them two to three options. Save $$ by booking a venue during the week instead of weekend.

 Invest in a Professional

Hire a professional to coordinate the party or gathering.  You will save valuable office time and office skills, while not worrying about overtime, conflicts in decisions and someone to set up and clean up! This investment can save time and $$ along with a good report to Santa on what a great boss you are!
